I'm looking for a new puppy or dog to help keep me company while I go to school in a new place! I've been attending college since Fall, and have recently lost a pet that I've had my entire life to old age. I'm looking to acquire a new dog that I can take with me wherever I go!

I am looking for a small breed, preferably not a mix. I've become partial to miniature pinschers because of their energy and intelligence, but I'm open to purchasing various kinds of dogs, as long as they are around or under 15 lbs (I'm starting to lean towards Boston Terriers and Italian Greyhounds, as well). I have contacted several sellers regarding buying their puppies-- many have failed to return calls and emails.

I have lots of experience with small and large dogs and am constantly corresponding with my sister, who is a liscensed veterinary technician and passionate animal lover. I am not looking to breed, show, or make any money off of a new dog, but only give him/her a loving home. I cannot figure any reason why I have been disappointed three different times by dog sellers other than a lack of communication on their part.

So I'm hoping that somebody out there has dogs for sale for a reasonable price-- I'm not looking for a cheap dog, as price is not the most important thing about getting a new pet, but I am a student who is supporting myself, so I cannot afford a puppy costing much more than $300.  I must also ask that the dog be in reasonably good health, as frequent and expensive vet bills are not an option.

If anyone has any information about where to go or who to contact about one of these dogs, please let me know. If there is (by some suprising chance) a pet store that you have had good experiences with, (or better yet) any shelters or pet adoption services that are looking for homes for small-breed dogs, send me the info! I have checked out services like PetFinder.com-- again, I have received NO responses from the emails and phone numbers provided, so I don't think the posts are updated very often.  If you have a better resource, please contact me.
